Goodbye 3rd Years!

Here are my 3rd year Illustration students at Goldsmiths on the last day of term. All 19 of them produced some incredible work throughout their final term. I was left feeling a very proud tutor indeed. Looking forward to the final degree show now on 14th June. Watch this space for photos from the evening!

Teaching at HM Prison Services

From next week I will be teaching Graphic Design to male youth offenders aged 18-21 serving convicted sentences of less than 4 years at Rochester Youth Offenders Institute in Kent. I will be working with the offenders involving them in the entire process of creative media production, eventually leading to their own publication. Really looking forward to stepping up to the challenge and hopefully seeing some amazing outcomes. I will be writing a diary of my experiences and journey over the coming weeks to see how the course unfolds. Wish me luck!

Commissioned by The Albany

I feel honored to have been selected from a large group of applicants as The Albany’s new Freelance Designer. I will be working closely with the performing arts venue over the next year with their new and exciting UNCOVER Programme. With our first project well underway, I look forward to seeing how the project grows and develops. Here’s a peek at the front cover of our first brochure which has just gone to print. Looking forward to seeing the brochures in their full glory!

My Work on the London Undergrounds

I was delighted to find out that the Advertising work I did for The Brahms Unwrapped Programe at Kings Place can now be spotted in 50 various locations all over the London Tube Stations. I was very excited to spot my first one last week going down the escalators at Angel. I’m now on the hunt for more! Commissions for The Times

It’s been a very busy start to the year for me! I’ve been working hard on various commissions for The Times Educational Supplement and The Times Higher Education Magazine – two very interesting reads by the way! Here are some shots from the magazines up to now.

Kings Place Commission

Here is an Editorial Illustration I created for the Kings Place “What’s On” Magazine. The article talks about Brahms piano pieces and how they have been historically played ‘hard’ but there are actually far more subtle and beautiful. Bear at a piano? Why the hell not! This one will be out at the end of February.

Times Higher Education Commission

Another commission came through last week from those lovely people at The Times. The piece was to illustrate an article on the latest UCAS figures. The figures as expected did show a decline in students applying due to the higher fee scheme. There was also a great drop in students applying for language courses. It is a very uncertain picture for the future of Higher Education for sure. This one is out on Thursday!

Commission for The Times Educational Supplement

I was commissioned last week to produce another illustration for The Times. The artwork was for an article on pedagogy and how classrooms are becoming over populated, facing disruption with the balance of mobile and non mobile students often with little official guidance for teachers as to how best deal with the problem. This one will be out in the shops on 6th February folks!

Commission for The Times Higher Education Magazine

I was commissioned last week to create an illustration for The Times Opinion Piece. The article is about preserving the mother tongue and the importance of heritage. Language it appears is an endangered species and there are very few countries that still retain their linguistic roots (Hebrew being one of them). It will be out in the next edition of The THE Magazine so keep your eyes peeled for this one!

Back Lecturing at Goldsmiths
