Last Day of Term at Goldsmiths

I said goodbye to 3rd year illustrators today as we framed up their final artwork for the degree show in July. I’m genuinely sad to say bye to this bunch who have made the past 10 weeks so much fun. For the first year these guys will be producing an illustration publication to showcase their work. The quality of work produced this year is incredible, canne wait for the final show.

Tiger Puppet Making Workshop at St Pancras

Last weekend I helped out the marvelous illustrator Katherina Manolessou at an extremely busy Tiger Puppet Making Workshop at St Pancras. The workshop formed part of a weekend “Tiger Tracks” – a weekend long programme raising awareness of declining wild tiger numbers with an aim to try and save this magnificent animal from extinction. The workshops were great fun with lots of amazing creations made!

AOI Images 2013 Entry

Here’s my latest illustration and entry for the self initiated category of the AOI Competition Images 37. I’ve become fascinated by the rich heritage, tales and stories of Native American tribes. This illustration shows the beauty of retaining ones roots and traditions conveying centuries of conflict, tension and adjustment between the old and new world.

Exhibiting at The Mayors Parlour

As part of “The Poster Show”, I am exhibiting along with 50 other UK artists. Each artist has produced one A1 poster for the show which is now open to the public. A big thank you to all who came down to the private view on Friday night to show your support, it was much appreciated! The show will run Monday – Friday from 10am to 6pm in Bow, London. Other artists involved in the exhibition are Peter Saville, Jamie Reid and Tracey Emin – get yourself down there!

Its been a crazily busy 5 week run up to reading week but thought I’d show you some of the beautiful (and blooming freezing) winter weather at Goldsmiths. Very pretty in front of the Media and Communications building…

Happy New Year to you all! It’s been a busy run up to Christmas but here are some updates on what I’ve been up to. I graduated once again in December at Goldsmiths – hurrah! I successfully passed my PG Certificate in the Management of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education which now makes me a Fellow of the HEA which all sounds very posh. Here’s a picture of me and the little sis below.

I have a new stockist, Pictures and Light in Stoke Newington – a beautiful shop stocking home ware. I was also commissioned to create a illustration for the opening chapter of “Becoming a Successful Illustrator” a book which is due out in the US this year. All in all a very busy end to 2012.

Already looking forward to 2013 with new projects on the go. I’m also delighted to be teaching 3rd Year Illustration students their final major project at Goldsmiths University for 10 weeks from this Wednesday. Busy times are ahead.

Exhibiting at Misty Moon Gallery

Last week saw the launch of a collaborative exhibition at the Misty Moon Gallery in Ladywell. The private view saw lots of visitors through the door, thank you to those of you who braved the cold and came down to see it! The exhibition will be on for 5 weeks so if you’re south of the river drop on by and say hello. You will find these four A1 prints available framed (£125 each) or unframed (£35-£45 each) along with smaller prints ranging from £5-£15 (a bargain if I do say so myself!)

Lunch at Ted Baker Headquarters

I had the pleasure of attending a wonderful lunch at TEDQuarters last week. It was a bloody lovely afternoon filled with cheesecake, meeting the lovely Ted Baker staff and stories of the legendary tea lady Vida!

I also got to meet the talented illustrators Matt Richards, Alice Potter, Freddy Boo and Heng Khoo – Managing Directer of the AOI. We all received the warmest possible welcome, thank you to Hannah and all the gang for a lovely afternoon. What a fantastic project to be a part of.

I had a lovely surprise to receive my complimentary print from Ted Baker a few days ago. Was great to see the way they are packaged and would be received in store. Thank you TEDQuarters and Fiona from the AOI – this was a fantastic project to work on. I have already seen updates from Japan, the US and France! Bloody brilliant.
